9th Lord in the 11th House
The 9th lord is whichever planet rules the sign on your 9th house — which planet that is depends on your ascendant. The 9th house (Dharma Bhava) covers philosophy and faith, higher education, long journeys, teachers and gurus, your father, and good fortune. Below is the general traditional reading of the 9th lord placed in the 11th house.
The traditional reading
Your 9th lord is placed in your 11th house, the house of gains and networks. Fortune tends to show up as income, supportive friends and goals that are actually reached. Teachers, mentors, elder siblings or a father figure can be part of your network of opportunity. You are often generous with what you gain, and that generosity tends to come back around. Classical texts read this as a gainful placement, where good principles and good returns go together.
This is the general, traditional reading of one placement. In a real chart nothing acts alone: the sign the planet sits in, the planets aspecting it, the condition of the house lord and the dasha you are running all change how it plays out — and can soften or redirect parts of it. Read it as a tendency, not a verdict.
What the two houses cover
Dharma Bhava — Belief, fortune and the father
It covers: philosophy and faith, higher education, long journeys, teachers and gurus, your father, and good fortune.
The ninth house is classically the most auspicious in the chart — the house of dharma, of the principles you actually live by, and of the luck that seems to arrive without being earned. It covers long-distance travel, foreign cultures, higher learning and the people who change how you see things. Planets here shape what you believe and who taught you.
Its lord: The 9th lord's placement shows where your fortune tends to come from and which direction your beliefs pull you.
Labha Bhava — Gains, networks and ambition
It covers: income and profit, elder siblings, friendships and networks, and the desires you are willing to name out loud.
The eleventh house is where things come in. Where the 2nd is accumulated wealth, the 11th is the flow that produces it — earnings, gains, windfalls, and the social connections that generate them. It is also the house of stated ambition: what you actually want, as opposed to what you are supposed to want.

Common questions
Which planet is my 9th lord?
It depends on your ascendant. Your 9th house holds one sign, and that sign's ruling planet is the 9th lord — if Aries is on that house, for example, the lord is Mars. The free birth chart shows the sign on every house, so you can find it directly.
Is the 9th lord in the 11th house good or bad?
Neither on its own. It describes where the matters of the 9th house tend to flow. Which planet the lord is, the sign it sits in, the aspects on it and the dasha you are running all shape how it is actually experienced.
