Method
Computed precisely, explained honestly
Planetary positions from a professional-grade ephemeris, converted to the sidereal zodiac (Lahiri ayanamsa) used in Vedic tradition.
Signs, nakshatras, whole-sign houses, and vimshottari dasha — the same structures a traditional astrologer reads.
Clear, warm explanations of what each placement means — guidance to reflect with, never fear or fixed fate.
What we will not do
No fear, ever — and that is the whole point
Most free astrology sites make their money the same way: compute something, describe it as a curse or a dosha, then sell the cure. It works because it frightens people, and it has cost real families real money and real relationships — matches called off, ceremonies paid for, children labelled unlucky at birth.
Bhagya Bidata will not do that. We compute accurately, we show our working, and we tell you when the tradition itself disagrees with the scary version. There is no placement in any chart that makes a person doomed, and nobody needs to pay to have one removed. If you have been told otherwise, our mangal dosha page is a good place to start.

Common questions
Is everything on this site really free?
Yes. All five calculators — birth chart, nakshatra, moon sign, mangal dosha and kundli matching — are free with no account, no sign-up and no limit on how many charts you generate. We are working on a paid long-form report, and when it launches it will be clearly priced and entirely optional. Nothing that is free today will be put behind a paywall later.
How do you make money if the tools are free?
At the moment we don't. The plan is a paid in-depth report for people who want one, and that is the whole of it. We will not run fear-based upsells, we will not sell gemstones or remedial poojas, and we will never sell or share your data. If that changes, this page will say so before it does.
Do you store my birth details?
No. Charts are computed in your browser, and your birth date, time and place are never sent to our servers or written to a database. The only thing that leaves your browser is the city name you type into the place search, which goes to a geocoding service to convert into coordinates. If you subscribe to the weekly email we store your email address and nothing more.
Why is my sign different here than in my usual horoscope?
Because this site uses the sidereal zodiac of Indian tradition, measured against the actual stars, rather than the tropical zodiac used in Western horoscopes. The two systems have drifted roughly twenty-four degrees apart over the last two thousand years, so most people find their Vedic sign is one place earlier. Vedic astrology also reads primarily from the Moon rather than the Sun, which is a second and separate difference.
Are you astrologers?
No. Bhagya Bidata is built by Ranjan Barman, who is not a trained astrologer and says so openly on the about page. What the site does well is the arithmetic: accurate sidereal positions computed with a professional-grade ephemeris, presented in the classical framework, with the interpretations written to describe tendencies rather than predict events. If you want a personal consultation, see a practising astrologer — this is a set of tools, not a replacement for one.
How accurate are the calculations?
Planetary positions agree with NASA JPL reference ephemerides to well under an arcminute across the supported range of 1900 to 2100, and our ayanamsa values match published Lahiri tables to within a fraction of an arcminute. In practice, the accuracy of any chart is limited by how accurately the birth time was recorded, not by the astronomy.
