Ketu in the 10th House
In Vedic astrology the Ketu stands for detachment, inherited skill, and what you are ready to release. The 10th house (Karma Bhava) covers profession, reputation, authority, your relationship to power, and the work strangers know you for. Below is the general traditional reading of the Ketu placed there.
The traditional reading
Detachment from worldly standing. Career achievement comes and matters less than expected; ambition is oddly hard to sustain.
This is the general, traditional reading of one placement. In a real chart nothing acts alone: the sign the planet sits in, the planets aspecting it, the condition of the house lord and the dasha you are running all change how it plays out — and can soften or redirect parts of it. Read it as a tendency, not a verdict.
What the 10th house covers
Karma Bhava — Career and public standing
It covers: profession, reputation, authority, your relationship to power, and the work strangers know you for.
The tenth house is the highest point of the sky at your birth, and it means exactly what that suggests: what you are visible for. It covers career, status, and the kind of authority you carry — whether that is over people, over a craft, or over nothing much at all. It is the most public house in the chart.
Its lord: The 10th lord's placement is one of the two or three most informative things in a chart about working life.
See where your planets actually are
Your free birth chart shows which house each of your planets sits in and the sign on every house — so you can read the pages that are actually yours. The Full Life Report reads the whole chart together: every planet, every house lord, and the timing of your dashas.
Common questions
How do I know which house my Ketu is in?
Houses are counted from your ascendant (lagna), the sign rising at the moment of birth, so you need your birth date, time and place. The free birth chart works it out in a few seconds and lists the house of every planet. Without an accurate birth time the houses can shift, even though the signs usually stay the same.
Is the Ketu in the 10th house good or bad?
Neither on its own. A placement describes where a planet's themes show up in your life, not a verdict on it. The sign, aspects, the condition of the house lord and the dasha running all change how it is experienced, which is why two people with the same placement can live it very differently.
