Ardra is the most emotionally weather-beaten of the nakshatras, and also one of the most perceptive. Its name means 'moist' or 'the wet one', which is both the teardrop and the rain that follows a drought. The mythology
Rudra is the howling storm of the Rig Veda, a fierce and unpredictable deity who is also the healer — later absorbed into Shiva. He is invoked both to stay away and to protect. That double face is exactly Ardra's: the thing that tears through is also the thing that clears.
