The temperament
Krittika is sharp in both senses. There is real perceptiveness here, an ability to see through pretence quickly, and there is also an edge to how that gets said. The fire imagery is about purification rather than destruction: Agni is the fire of the offering, which transforms what is put into it. People with Krittika strong often find themselves in the role of the one who says the thing everyone else was avoiding, and they are usually right, and it usually costs them something. Straddling the Aries-Taurus boundary gives it both heat and stubbornness.

The mythology
Krittika is the Pleiades, and in Indian myth the six Krittikas are the foster-mothers of Kartikeya, the war god, who was nursed by all of them at once. Agni, the deity, is the fire that carries an offering from the human world to the divine. Both stories are about transformation through heat — nourishing and destructive at once.
